Case Report

A detailed description of a single patient's experience with a supplement.

A case report describes an individual patient's clinical presentation, treatment (including supplement use), and outcome. While case reports are the lowest level of clinical evidence, they can identify rare adverse effects, suggest new therapeutic uses, and generate hypotheses for further research. In supplement research, case reports have been instrumental in identifying herb-drug interactions and unusual adverse reactions not detected in small trials.
